Leo Babsky’s work examines the troubling psychological concerns of containment, control, attraction and revulsion.
Tactile and flexible elements reference post – minimalism but combined into new structural landscapes discussing both the obsessional and the sexual.

Utilizing the conceptual models which surround minimalism, Babsky explores personal and social concerns of psychological impulses to dark or destructive forms of behavior, particularly in youth or sub–cultures.

Babsky combines seduction and warmth with inapproachability and coldness. His sculptures often refer to the glamorous aspects of contemporary life - like high-end fashion retailing or sexual fetish - but expose them to be lacking not in finish, but in background.

Treading a fine line between attraction and revulsion, carefully crafted elements draw the viewer in only to leave an unsettling aftertaste. Flashes of psychedelic color in an otherwise muted palette reference dance and drug culture – highlighting the contrast between the glamorous surfaces and dark flipsides of these activities.
